This Clover RPG beginner guide walks through the Kamo tutorial one quest at a time, helps you pick the right starter weapon, and lists the side quests that carry you to level 15, the level where you unlock your grimoire and your first magic. Clover RPG drops you into the Kamo Region with no magic at all, so the first hour is about weapons, gathering and learning the Clover RPG controls.

Clover RPG beginner guide: the tutorial

The tutorial is a chain of short quests around Kamo Village. Each one introduces a system, and together they hand you a weapon, a broom and your first missions. Follow them in this order:

  1. Find the village chief. Talk to Chief Farris in Kamo Village to start the chain.
  2. Claim your reward from Vulcan. The blacksmith offers four starter weapons and you may take only one (see the next section).
  3. Help Eira. Harvest Wolfsbane and Bamboo and bring them back. This teaches gathering.
  4. Learn to fly with Johan. Gather Cloth and two Wood. Finishing his quest, Winds of Freedom, unlocks your broom; the Clover RPG broom guide covers the races that follow.
  5. Old Roderick's request. Mine three ores in the cave behind the large Alchemist Tower, north to north-east of the blacksmith.
  6. Captain Dalen's request. Hunt three Wild Wolves in the Kamo outskirts, then report back to Dalen and Chief Farris.
  7. Finish at the Guild Hall. Report to Eleanor, start an F-Rank mission (press U, then click the Mission Bird), report back, and return to Chief Farris.

During Dalen's quest, press Tab to spend your stat points and use the Basic Technique Token in your inventory to unlock one skill. Our Clover RPG stats guide explains what each stat does before you commit points.

Clover RPG beginner guide: picking your first weapon

Vulcan's reward is the most important choice in the tutorial, because it sets your weapon class and the community wiki notes you cannot freely change class later without wiping the save slot. The four rewards are:

  • Gauntlets: light class, the fastest attacks. Light weapons later scale into Clover Gauntlets, the top light weapon by damage times speed.
  • Novice Blade: medium class, a balanced sword. Balmung is the top medium weapon by damage times speed once you can wield it.
  • Rustic Spear: medium class with 9.5 range, the joint longest reach of the four with the Longsword.
  • Longsword: heavy class, slow swings that hit hardest.

If you are unsure, take a medium weapon: the class has the most weapons (22 of 53) and sits between speed and power. Every option and its upgrade path is on the Clover RPG weapons page, ranked in the Clover RPG tier list.

Quests to level 15

After the tutorial, keep questing around Kamo until level 15. These quests are quick and several repeat every 10 minutes:

  • Hollo, Coming of Age: deliver his letter to Recca (180 EXP, 25 Marks and Silver).
  • Javier, Waking Nightmare: touch four pillars north-east of the blacksmith to summon five Nightcharmers and defeat them (200 EXP, 50 Marks, repeats).
  • Old Man Adelfus, A Friend In Need: find three missing wagon wheels; our Clover RPG wagon wheels page shows where each one is.
  • Assembly Hunter Legolas, A True Hunt: kill the Dire Wolf (200 EXP, 50 Marks, repeats).
  • Daniel, Timber! and Abra: gather Wood or Wolfsbane for small, fast rewards.
  • Daeron the Daring, Broom Derby: finish the three broom races (250 EXP, 55 Marks).

The Clover RPG level guide ranks the repeatable quests by EXP per cooldown, and the full list of quest givers is in Clover RPG quests.

Unlocking your magic

At level 15 you can start the grimoire quest at Wisdom Peak, a floating island in the Kamo Region. Your magic is a random roll: Flame and Light come up 22% of the time each, Wind 20%, Lightning and Shadow 15%, Beast 5% and Time only 1%. The step-by-step route is in how to get magic in Clover RPG, and the Clover RPG magic tier list tells you whether your roll is worth keeping. That is where this Clover RPG beginner guide hands off: the rest of the Clover RPG guides cover builds, bosses and the wider world.

Beginner mistakes to avoid

  • Picking a weapon on looks. The tutorial choice locks your class; read the four options above first.
  • Spending stat points at random. A reset at the Lady of the Lake costs Insight or Marks, so plan for the magic you want.
  • Rerolling before level 15. A character wipe only offers to keep your grimoire once you have one. See how to reroll magic in Clover RPG.
  • Ignoring repeatable quests. Javier, Legolas, Daniel and the Mushroom Region quests refresh every 10 minutes and are the fastest EXP early on.
